“We found your sculpture of pure light mesmerizing, enchanting…hypnotized by how it changed as we moved…beautiful and made our thoughts turn inward.”

Light Forms Perceived in Space
Light forms perceived in space and the relationship to changes both within the form itself and the viewers’ position within the space.
Investigations and experimentation as to an ongoing process. I am always reaching for understanding the inner substance that light holds within itself as it bounces, absorbs, reflects and diffracts off of surfaces.
Light
I am fascinated with forming an invisible element such as light and creating a focused and voluminous form that can be perceived in the viewers’ mind.
When I work, I start by shaping an architectural structure, such as a wall. I place an opening in the center of the wall and a grid behind the opening.
I watch as the light twists, turns and bends within the space – my container for the light.
As I reach for some sort of control, I learn only to let go and really watch – for above all, light is transitory, elusive, mysterious and uncontainable.
My perseverance over my long journey is reaching or seeing into the substance and quality of the light. The focus as if I were a camera lens with an aperture. I move around the space seeing what is happening all around me at every angle and perspective. If the light does not like the structure that I have created, then I recreate another structure so that the relationship with the light is pure.
